A couple of days ago I introduced you to one of our two new Spring Shadows…and today, I am so excited to introduce you to our 2nd, Rachel!
Rachel is another answer to prayer. She already “gets us” on so many levels, and she is so gifted at seeing things from a wise and intuitive perspective. We are thrilled that she is joining our team and are excited for you all to meet her at some of our upcoming weddings!
Tell us a little about yourself and where you are in life right now.
Hi! I’m Rachel, a 26-year-old corporate finance senior analyst living in Greenville. I’m working on my MBA from Clemson part-time and am looking forward to exploring my passion for weddings this spring/summer with Bespoken!
Where are you from?
Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I can show you on the back of my hand (the mitten) where that is!
What attracted you to apply for our Shadow Program?
It seemed like fate! I’d been struggling with feeling unfulfilled with my 9-5 and not being part of something I’m passionate about, so when I was browsing wedding planning websites (my usual lunch break pastime) I found Bespoken and immediately felt a connection to their mission and values. I knew it was time to take a leap and apply for the program!
What do you love about weddings?
Is *everything* an acceptable answer? Each part of a wedding is so special, and I love all of it for different reasons! But what really makes my heart full is seeing and feeling the joy of an entire room filled with the couple’s family and friends, all focused on celebrating their love and sharing the start of their new life together.
What are you most passionate about?
My family, travel, cultivating all my long-distance friendships, and a good book!
What are some small things that make your day better?
Chocolate, good morning messages from my boyfriend, and a playlist of jams while driving!
What is the last adventure you went on?
My boyfriend and I just spent 2 weeks in Orlando, partially with my family and partially at a work conference for him. Living out of (multiple) suitcases for that long was an adventure in itself! We had so much fun exploring Disney, Universal, TopGolf, putt putt…. we did it all! Sitting at the pool with a good book always leaves me feeling refreshed and relaxed, but we were ready to be home!
What is your favorite book?
Anything by Liane Moriarty (who wrote Big Little Lies). Seriously, all her books are perfection and I recommend them to anyone who asks!
What is your favorite food?
Pasta, no question. Penne, spaghetti, farfalle, any kind, I don’t discriminate! Thanks to my Italian blood I almost can’t go more than 3 days without having some.
What is something that no one else knows about you?
I was in our high school musical of Beauty & the Beast and played a fork during Be Our Guest. I literally wore a top hat with a 3-foot-tall Styrofoam fork coming out of the top of it. It’s honestly a miracle I didn’t fall and ruin the entire number.
What is your favorite thing to do on a beautiful day?
My absolute favorite beautiful day activity is spending the day on the lake with my parents and family friends. A couple of pontoon boats tied together is always a fun time! Lately my most frequent way to spend a beautiful day is checking out new breweries and sitting on the patio or playing golf.
What are you most excited about in the next 12 months?
I am so excited for the opportunity to learn and explore the wedding planning business with Shannon and team, and I can’t wait to see what joy it sparks in my life! The next 12 months are shaping up to be life changing, in both my personal and professional lives. Finishing grad school is also going to be a biggie! (Go Tigers)
Coffee or Tea?
Morning person or night owl?
Morning for sure. A crisp fall morning with the sun shining, if we’re being specific. 🙂
What are you grateful for right now?
My boyfriend, Beau. He is the one who pushed me to take a chance and apply for the program and is always so supportive and encouraging of me following my dreams. I am so grateful to have a partner like him!
