Our 2018 wedding season was supposed to end with Kally & Matt’s wedding, but we extended it one day further for a very special New Year’s Eve wedding at The Westin Poinsett. Brentley and I originally had plans to get dressed up, head downtown, and be 100% guests at our friend’s wedding. But when John-Michael and Nicole got closer to their wedding date and realized they needed help pulling all of the details together, they reached out to me, asking if I would feel comfortable helping them finish out their wedding plans, managing the entire day, and executing it all…while still being a guest.
There is no greater joy to me than helping friends plan one of the biggest days of their lives. So after speaking with my team and checking their availability, I wholeheartedly told our friends that I would love to help them plan their wedding. After a long conversation around our dining room table, after many texts and emails later, we were ready for their day to arrive.
I spent the majority of the morning and afternoon with Nicole and her bridesmaids, while overseeing the rental load-in, and checking in on the guys every now and then. Emily arrived and took over so I could go freshen up and get dressed as a guest. And then, we both helped greet guests (including my husband!), and together we got the wedding party lined up for the ceremony. As Emily cued everyone down the aisle, I grabbed Nicole and her father, put them in place, gave her a big hug, and then snuck into the back row where I proceeded to enjoy the rest of the evening as a guest while Emily managed and executed everything else.
Nicole wore a gorgeous dress from Carolina Traditions (and check out those shoes!!!), while John-Michael wore a custom suit from Stitched. The two included their children in the festivities by not only sharing their First Dance with them, but by also allowing them to help cut the cake. The cake, by the way, was a funfetti cake that John-Michael’s mother made, and it was SO GOOD.
From a guest’s standpoint, John-Michael and Nicole’s wedding was simply beautiful and a perfect, fun way to celebrate NYE. They provided NYE party hats and glasses for everyone to wear, the food from The Westin Poinsett was incredible, and Brandon with Bunn DJ Company kept the dance floor packed ALL. NIGHT. LONG. There was a champagne pass at midnight, and just a little bit later, guests were surprised with Bojangles biscuits as a late night snack.
John-Michael and Nicole, helping you through this process AND being able to celebrate with you as you became husband and wife was such a sweet highlight and memorable way to end 2018. You are loved and treasured by so many, and I am so grateful for your graciousness for my dual vendor-guest role.
Matthew Pautz captured the day beautifully, and we are so excited to share some of our favorite photos with you! Enjoy!
